Independent School

The school required new teaching facilities to take the pressure of its Grade 2 listed House designed by L. Rome Guthrie in an Italian-style in 1911; Guthrie also designed the terraced gardens to compliment the style of the house, with planting plans produced by Gertrude Jekyll.

The school had a need to provide new permanent teaching facilities that will include five science and four classrooms plus food science. Working with the school to develop a design that sits discreetly hidden from view of the Grade 2 listed house and gardens. Careful design was used to taking advantage of the existing topography to shield the new building from view. The change in levels also allowed the building to be designed for wheelchair access to both floors directly from the external paths. Obtaining planning and all statutory approvals in this highly sensitive setting.

Volumetric modular construction reduced the disruption to the school and build time on site. HF Architecture have a great deal of experienced in modular construction methods.
