Nestled in rolling countryside, this picturesque rural setting on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border. The site of a former collection of derelict workshops that straddle an ancient byway. These three new homes showcases a thoughtful design in keeping with its surroundings.
Commissioned by a property developer to design three new properties on a very restricted plot of land. The site itself bisected by a byway leaving two small and narrow plots of land either side. It was important to maintain the fantastic views afforded by the location.
The change on this site was working with the height restriction imposed in planning and a slopping site. To add to this is the fact that the site is bisected by a byway leaving very little room around the houses. When designing the properties we considered setting them partly in the ground creating some almost subterranean spaces with high level windows. The rooms were vaulted to create a feeling of space. Internal balconies overlooking circulation was used where possible for a senesce connection within the property.
